SOLD INDIVIDUALLY — MOST SETUPS REQUIRE TWO
REY Plug is precision-fit elastomer inserts designed to occupy the space between bushings, eliminating internal slack within the bushing stack.
This “dead space” creates a delay between rider input and system response, often felt as play before the truck begins to engage.
Core Function: Plugs remove wasted motion inside the system before the bushings begin doing their real job.
In many trucks, not all input energy is immediately converted into rotation. Some of it is lost to internal movement within the bushing stack.
Plugs eliminate that loss.
- Reduce internal movement before engagement
- Increase efficiency of lean-to-turn conversion
- Improve system precision and feedback
- Create a more direct and responsive ride
Engineering
System Mechanics
Plugs reduce the amount of input energy that is improperly converted into hanger-to-baseplate translation when the intended motion is rotation.
Without a plug, the bushing stack can shift before engaging, introducing an additional degree of freedom into the system.
Plugs eliminate that unwanted motion.
- No additional preload is introduced
- No change in ride height or stack compression
- Only the removal of internal slack
By removing this degree of freedom, more input is directly converted into rotational output.
In simple terms: Less input is wasted, and more input becomes motion.
Materials
Material System
Manufactured from RiotThane™, Riot’s proprietary high-rebound polyurethane elastomer.
This material is engineered for:
- Consistent elastic response under cyclic loading
- Low compression set over time
- High dimensional stability
Unlike typical molded support components, these plugs are precision-machined to maintain tight tolerances and consistent fit.
Durometer
Constraint Tuning
Available in 85A, 87.5A, 90A, 92.5A, 95A, and 100A.
Plug durometer does not significantly change total lean resistance. Instead, it controls how much internal translation is eliminated before the system engages.
Lower Durometers (85A–90A)
Reduce major slack while allowing slight internal movement. More forgiving with a slightly damped response.
Mid Range (92.5A–95A)
Balanced constraint with improved efficiency and feedback.
Higher Durometers (100A)
Minimize internal translation and maximize energy transfer into rotation.
Counterintuitive Truth: Harder plugs can feel like they give you less “dead” center, because more rider input becomes immediate output.
